It makes sense for a challenger to be in the dark on one of the members. I did like that we had a mysterious, unknown member in Kahili, and she was a really challenging fight, but considering that S/M allows you to continue on as champion rather than the script just ending when you win, I would've liked to get to know her a bit more in the post game. Having the opportunity to finally face off against them as equals was a satisfying moment, and the battles play out completely differently.

They're said to be the strongest trainers on their respective islands, but seeing as how the Grand Trials are just tests, you don't get to see their full strength until the end. Personally, I really liked having Kahunas in the mix.

I agree that we're lacking type diversity in the E4, but I really like the Alola roster in terms of personality and I think they're teams are some of the best thought-out ones we've had.

Fairy type elite four would've been cool (Captain Mina from Poni Gauntlet). Tl dr - Kahili was sick, Hala and Olivia were underwhelming, Acerola was whatever. Bug and Dragon both have a great pool of mons to use but we also have Guzma as a 'challenging' bug type trainer and the fact that last gen had a dragon type elite four member. Types like Electric and Fire have very few Pokemon so making an Elite four member for those types that's difficult would be hard. I can't really see that many better options though for other elite four types unfortunately. Heck, Mina from Poni Gauntlet would've been a cool choice for an elite four member I think. In my opinion I think it might've been cool to see a Fairy type elite four member, since it's such a new type and Game Freak has been throwing so many new fairy types at us. We have 18 types, why repeat Ghost and Fighting so many times? Though Rock is tied with the most weaknesses out of any type, two of which being grass and water, so your starters can handle it well. The other two elite four members types(Rock and Flying) I don't really mind, they're both first time appearances in the elite four so that's cool. Hana is the fourth Fighting type elite four member (If you count Bruno twice for Gen I and Gen II).

I don't know I just wasn't feeling it though.ДЄcerola is whatever honestly, it's cool seeing a trial captain powerful enough to be one of the elite four, so I wouldnt have mind seeing any of the other trial captains in her spot.ДЄcerola is the fourth elite four member to be ghost type. You could also say that Hala was a really good elite four, being that he was one of the first trainers you battled, and you had to show him your experience throughout your journey through battle as one last test. On the other hand, the Pokemon League was literally JUST created storywise as you go to it, so it's understandable and realistic that the elite four was put together hastily( As in, Acerola instead of Nanu because he didn't want to, Kahili instead of Hapu because Hapu literally just turned Kahuna in the story). I would've much prefer them staying only as kahunas. Olivia and Hala both felt underwhelming because they were two people who I already battled, so I sorta knew what to expect from them. In a way, we had to fight someone who had achieved our ambitions before us. She was a trial goer who became an island champion. That's what Kahili was in my eyes honestly. They got their position simply because they were so strong, and we had little to no background about them. I personally loved fighting four incredibly strong unknown trianers like in previous generations.
